I was born and raised in Nevada City California, a small town at the western edge of the Sierra Nevada mountain range.

My interest in computers and music started early on in life. I started playing guitar at about age 15 and by 18 I had access to a computer powerful enough to compose songs with. I am now 28.
My first work was done mostly with the software Rebirth-338 from the Swedish software makers Propellerheads. The program has recently been discontinued and is available freely for download at www.rebirthmuseum.com if you are willing to download and burn to disc its full 600 megabytes. There are literally thousands of song files to play in Rebirth and they are each only a few kilobytes in size.

Another aspect of the electronic music scene that I immediately gravitated to is what is known as MOD music. A MOD is a self contained song complete with a set of sampled instruments, usually no more than a few hundred kilobytes in size. They were originally invented for use as the soundtrack for video games, but since at the time the mp3 standard was new and the internet was quite slow for most users MODs were a major source of digitally exchanged music. If you are interested, you can find a constantly updated source of MODs at www.scene.org or www.modarchive.com and a great program to play them is XMPlay (www.xmplay.com). A good thing about them is that the samples are often 44.4Khz WAV samples and therefore are better quality than any mp3.
